The Little Kitchen of Westport is all grown up now. Westporters have adored
this Indonesian-Chinese gem since it first opened at 47 Main St. At that
location, most customers ordered carry-out. Henry Darbi and Elaine Chao
opened
Taipan, and Little Kitchen loyalists feared it would close. Instead, the couple
chose to operate both restaurants.
However, Little Kitchen takes no back seat in food or atmosphere to Taipan or
any of the glitzy Asian bistros that are springing up all over the county.
Singles love to drink and mingle and even dine at its long, curving bar.
Some movies require hankies, and so do some restaurants. Little Kitchen gives diners an authentic taste of hot and sour seafood soup and other spicy dishes.
One end of the Little Kitchen's long bar is taken up by a sushi counter. Behind it, talented Michael Liu works wonders. If you can't make it to Asia, a trip to the now Not-So-Little Kitchen of Westport is the next best thing.
